Online Ecumenical Prayer Service

This ecumenical prayer service is hosted by Archbishop Michael Miller, Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Vancouver, and co-led with Senior Pastor Rev. Dr. Ken Shigematsu of Tenth Church (Christian Missionary Alliance) and Senior Pastor Rev. Dr. David Koop of Coastal Church.

Ecumenical Prayer Service

Archbishop Michael Miller of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Vancouver will host a prayer service at Holy Rosary Cathedral (646 Richards St). Archbishop Michael will co-lead the prayer service with The Right Reverend John Stephens, Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of New Westminster; Senior Pastor Matt Menzel of Westside Church; and Senior Pastor Rev. Dr. David Koop of Coastal Church. Participating traditions include: Roman Catholic, Anglican, Evangelical, Mennonite. The service will be in-person and livestreamed.

Clergy from the member churches plus clergy committee members will read parts of the 2022 WPCU worship service. Pastor Peter Noteboom, General Secretary of The Canadian Council of Churches, will offer the sermon. Participating traditions include: Anglican, Baptist/United Baptist, Quaker, Roman Catholic, and United Church, plus a university chaplaincy and a L'Arche community. A recording of the service will be made available afterwards on waicc.org.

Organized by the Fort Qu'Appelle Ministerial and the Qu'Appelle House of Prayer. The prayer for the Octave is varied, and limited because of COVID restrictions. Local communities are encouraged to spend some time each day praying from home, using this year's WPCU resources. Some of these prayer times will be shared with others through Zoom. Four in-person services will take place for just a few people; each of these will be a multi-faith Eucharist with themes from all 8 days of the WPCU. Participating traditions include: Mennonite, Roman Catholic, United Church and Anglican. Local communities are also encouraged to participate in the 8-Day Online Bible Study Series, organized by The Prairie Centre for Ecumenism and The Regina Council of Churches (details below).
